Mataaho Collective is a collaboration between four Māori artists who have worked together since 2012.

Erena Arapere-Baker

Te Atiawa ki Whakarongotai, Ngāti Toa Rangātira
Completed a Masters in Māori Visual Arts with First Class Honours through Massey University, Palmerston North in 2009.
Erena is an artist and Senior Lecturer in Māori Visual Art at Toioho ki Apiti, Massey University based in Palmerston North.

Sarah Hudson

Ngāti Awa, Ngāi Tūhoe, Ngāti Pūkeko
Completed a Masters in Fine Arts with high distinction through Massey University in 2010. Based in Whakatāne, Sarah works as an artist and is co-founder of
Kauae Raro Research Collective.

Bridget Reweti

Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāi Te Rangi
Completed a Masters in Māori Visual Arts with First Class Honours at Massey University, Palmerston North and also holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Museum Studies from Victoria University, Wellington. Based in Ōtepoti, Bridget is an artist, curator and editor of the
ATE Journal of Māori Art.

Dr. Terri Te Tau

Rangitāne ki Wairarapa
Completed a PhD in Fine Arts at Massey University in Palmerston North in 2015. She holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Māori Visual Arts and a Bachelor of Māori Visual Arts Massey University. Terri is an artist and award-winning science fiction writer based in the Manawatū.

In 2022 we changed the spelling of our name from
Mata Aho Collective to Mataaho Collective. This updated spelling is more grammatically correct and reflects our journey as students of te Reo Māori, the indigenous language of Aotearoa.
